PS5 Pro Has A Tentative Release Window: Details Here

PS5 Pro is expected to offer gameplay at up to 120fps at 4K.

PlayStation 5 (PS5) was launched by Sony in November 2020, and to date, the Japanese gaming giant has managed to sell 32 million console units. Now, fans await the release of an upgraded variant of the console, dubbed PS5 Pro. As per a report by Inside Gaming by known tipster Tom Henderson, the PS5 Pro is indeed in development and has a tentative release date of late 2024.

Sony is also expected to launch a PS5 with a detachable disc drive later this year because the company is planning to reduce the cost of the current-generation gaming console. The detachable disc drive version of the PS5 is expected to be unveiled at Electronic Entertainment Experience (E3) 2023.

Additionally, the PlayStation 6 (PS6) is not expected to be launched until 2028.

As per earlier reports, TCL had shared some information about PS5 Pro features. The upcoming console is expected to offer gameplay at up to 120fps at 4K, along with 60fps support on 8K. Coming to processors, PS5 Pro's chip could be equivalent to the top-of-the-line AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT. It is expected to support advanced ray-tracing as well as advanced rendering and reconstruction techniques.

It should be noted that Sony hasn't officially offered any confirmation on PS5 Pro development or its release window. So, this report should be considered with a pinch of salt.

The PS5 comes in two editions — a regular disc variant, and a discless Digital Edition. The regular variant is currently priced at around Rs 54,900, up from its launch price of Rs 49,990. PS5 Digital Edition is priced at around Rs 44,900, up from its launch price of Rs 39,999. So far, in India, the PS5 has only been available in flash sales on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon or Flipkart and also via retail stores as well.

In January this year, the Japanese company unveiled a customisable accessibility controller kit for PS5 at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023. 'Project Leonardo' is designed to remove "barriers to gaming" and help players with disabilities play more easily, comfortably and for longer periods on PS5.
