Oblivion Remastered Makes A Glorious Return: Here’s Where & How You Can Play It

Back when it first launched, Oblivion sold an impressive 9.5 million copies — more than double the sales of its predecessor, Morrowind.

The cult-favourite Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is back in action — and it’s looking better than ever. Bethesda has officially launched Oblivion Remastered, bringing modern graphics, enhanced mechanics, and all the original downloadable content (DLC) to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Whether you're a nostalgic fan or a newcomer ready to dive into Tamriel, the remaster promises an upgraded experience on today's gaming consoles.

Where You Can Play It (and For How Much)

Bethesda announced the launch of Oblivion Remastered on April 22 during a livestream, confirming that the game is immediately available across Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.

Gamers can grab the standard edition at around Rs 4,100 for PC and at Rs 4,500 for consoles, undercutting the usual pricing for new AAA titles. For those wanting a little extra flair, the deluxe edition costs Rs 5,400 and comes bundled with bonus items like special weapons, upgraded armour, and the fan-favourite horse armour. Notably, Xbox Game Pass subscribers don’t need to spend a dime — the remastered version is included in the subscription at no additional cost.

New Looks, Familiar Heart

While the soul of Oblivion remains intact, the game has undergone a significant facelift. Expect crisper textures, updated lighting, improved character models, and smoother animations throughout. Bethesda has even tweaked the levelling system to more closely resemble the streamlined design seen in Skyrim. A sprinting feature has also been introduced — a welcome change for longtime fans used to the slower pace of the original.

And yet, there’s still a lot of the classic Oblivion charm. Familiar mini-games, iconic dialogue lines, and beloved quirks have been left untouched. This blend of old and new aims to strike the perfect balance between nostalgia and modernisation.

A Legendary Series, Revisited

Back when it first launched, Oblivion sold an impressive 9.5 million copies — more than double the sales of its predecessor, Morrowind. Yet it was Skyrim that would go on to redefine the series’ legacy, racking up 60 million units sold and becoming one of the best-selling games of all time.

Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new mainline Elder Scrolls title. But apart from Elder Scrolls Online and mobile spin-offs, Bethesda has kept the single-player saga on pause. Oblivion Remastered fills that void, offering a polished throwback while everyone waits for the next big chapter.

Whether you're ready to relive the legendary adventure or explore it for the first time, Oblivion Remastered is a welcome return to one of the most iconic fantasy RPGs ever made.
