Mumbai-Made, Globally Played: ‘Mukti’ Unveils First Look At Haunting Museum Adventure

Mukti is being tailor-made to shine on the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, with the developers promising full 4K visuals.

Indian indie game studio underDOGS has officially lifted the curtain on its much-anticipated narrative adventure Mukti, revealing the first gameplay trailer that showcases a haunting, story-rich experience. Coming to PlayStation 5 and PC, the game is part of Sony’s prestigious India Hero Project — a platform aimed at nurturing standout talent from the Indian game development community.

Set in mid-2000s India, Mukti invites players to step into the shoes of Arya, a young woman exploring a mysterious, maze-like museum once owned by her grandfather. But this isn’t just a personal quest — it evolves into something far darker, as Arya uncovers disturbing truths surrounding human trafficking. The game blends emotional storytelling with atmospheric exploration, offering a rich first-person experience grounded in real-world issues.

Sony’s India Hero Project Gets Its Star Storyteller

For underDOGS Studio, Mukti marks a bold leap forward. The collaboration with Sony has helped the studio bring an intensely Indian story to global audiences — something Game Director and studio founder Vaibhav Chavan is particularly proud of.

“Being a part of Sony India Hero Project didn’t just give us fuel to bring our vision to life, it also reaffirmed our belief that Indian stories belong on the world stage,” said Chavan. “Now, we’re thrilled to finally give you a glimpse of what we’ve been crafting behind the scenes.”

The trailer offers a peek into the game's rich environments, emotionally loaded narrative moments, and puzzle-solving segments, all of which are deeply interwoven into the central mystery.

Built for PS5, Ready for PC

Mukti is being tailor-made to shine on the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, with the developers promising full 4K visuals, immersive world-building, and DualSense-specific features like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. According to underDOGS, even subtle actions like solving quiet puzzles will be elevated through responsive vibrations and tactile sensations.

On the PC front, the studio has shared detailed system requirements to help players gear up ahead of release. From the GTX 1650 to RTX 4060 Ti, and with support for full controller compatibility, Steam achievements, and family sharing, Mukti aims to ensure a seamless experience for desktop gamers as well.

Indie Dreams Need Wishlists

As with many independent gaming efforts, visibility is key. Chavan is urging players to show support by wishlisting the game on both the PlayStation Store and Steam.

“As an indie studio from India, every wishlist counts,” he said. “It tells the world that there’s a growing hunger for Indian stories told through high-quality games. It pushes boundaries and opens doors, not just for Mukti, but for a whole generation of Indian developers. So if the teaser stirs something in you, if you believe in bold stories, fresh voices, and unforgettable adventures — please hit that wishlist button today.”

With Mukti, underDOGS Studio is poised to offer a deeply personal, culturally resonant, and globally relevant story — one that speaks not just through its gameplay, but through its intent to give Indian voices a louder place in the gaming world.
