Gotham Knights Release Cancelled On PS4, Xbox One; New Gameplay Trailer Showcases Nightwing, Red Hood
While Nightwing’s agility helps him power through a crowd of goons, Red Hood is more equipped in dealing with heavies.
Gotham Knights will not release on current-gen consoles. The upcoming co-op action RPG won’t be available on the PS4 and Xbox One. As per publisher Warner Bros. Interactive, Gotham Knights will only release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 25. On Tuesday, Gotham Knights dropped a new gameplay demo trailer, showcasing Nightwing and Red Hood in full glory. The trailer showed in detail the two characters’ gameplay style, traversal system, character customisations, and unique co-op action. Gotham Knights will let players step into the boots of four iconic DC superheroes — Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood.
When Gotham Knights was first announced back in 2020, it was set to release on all generations of Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles. In the announcement for the latest gameplay trailer, the publisher said that PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game have been ditched to “provide players with the best possible gameplay experience.”
The latest gameplay trailer teased what to expect when playing with Nightwing and Red Hood. While Nightwing’s agility and powerful dual escrima sticks help him take down a gang of thugs with unparalleled ease, Red Hood’s non-lethal ammo can deal a lot of damage at once, making him the perfect choice to take on heavy enemies.
Judging by the gameplay demo, Nightwing’s playstyle could be familiar to veteran Arkham series players where they had to control Batman and fight the right balance between counter-attacks and special gadget attacks to clear a room full of goons. However, Red Hood’s gameplay style appears fresh, thanks to his ranged attacks and overall brute strength and resilience.
Nightwing can scoot around the city of Gotham thanks to his aerial glider. Red Hood, on the other hand, uses his Mystical Leap power to keep jumping mid-air to move around. Both the powers have to be unlocked as you progress through the game.
Earlier this week, rumours suggested that Gotham Knights will let players take on missions and challenges in a four-player co-op mode. However, based on the latest demo, it appears that Gotham Knights will only allow two-player co-ops.
As mentioned earlier, Gotham Knights is set to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 25.
