Actor Dhanush also took to Facebook to post greetings on Thalapathy's birthday. Why is Tamil superstar Vijay known as Thalapathy? Actor Vijay's fans started calling him " Ilayathalapathy"(young commander) after 1996 when Vijay's "thullatha manavum thullum " was released. Superstar Rajinikanths(also known as Thalapathy after Maniratnam film with the same name ) " Padayappa" was released at the same time. In an award show, Vijay was asked which name would he like himsef to be known as - Next Superstar or Ilayathalapathy?.The answer was quite precise and elegant."Naan pazhsu marakkamataan"i.e I ll not forget my past...He was called as Ilayathalapathy in past and he would like to keep it that way in the future. Vijay Thalapathy's meteoric rise The actor made his debut as a lead in his father SA Chandrasekhar’s 1992 directorial Naalaiya Theerpu. But his first box office hit came in the form of Rasigan, which hit screens in 1994. Till 2003, Vijay acted in several romantic films like Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Kushi and Priyamaanavale. It was in 2003 that the actor’s career took another turn. Vijay tasted success with action film Thirumalai, and followed it up by giving back to back hits in Ghilli, Thirupachi and Pokkiri. Vijay gained fame as an “action hero”, and there seemed to be no stopping the star as he dabbled in this massy genre. But the actor was not immune to failure as his new-found success was followed by a series of flops. But in 2012, Vijay turned it around once again with Thupakki, and he has not looked back since. Vijay Thalapathy's Next Movie Reportedly, AR Murugadoss is currently planning the second installment of the much loved movie, Thupakki and actor Thalapathy Vijay has been roped in for the new film. If the reports are to be believed, Vijay will play the role of Jagadeesh, an Indian Army intelligence officer who is determined to demolish terrorism, just like the prequel film. The report adds that actor Kajal Aggarwal, who played the lead female role in Thuppakki, will be romancing Vijay in the sequel film as well. However, Kajal's involvement in the sequel movie is yet to be confirmed by the makers.Happppyyy birthdaaayyy to our #thalapathy.... #HBDTHALAPATHYVijay may you continue to grow from strength to strength.. and live a lonnnggggg life..continue to entertain us..our love for you will only grow..god bless you thalapathhhthyyyy..have an awesome safe bdayyyy @actorvijay pic.twitter.com/m1bHGAPhQF
