New Delhi: Actress Dipika Chikhlia, who became a household name after playing the role of 'Sita' in Doordarshan's much-loved 'Ramayan' featuring Arun Govil as 'Ram', is back in the limelight all thanks to the show's re-run amid the novel Coronavirus outbreak. The talented actress, who made her successful Bollywood debut with 1983 film 'Sun Meri Laila', joined Twitter recently and is very much active on the popular social networking site. Few days ago, she posted a throwback picture with Prime Minister Narendar Modi which is going viral all over the Internet.

The picture is from the time when Dipika Chikhlia stood for election in Baroda (Vadodara). In the picture, she is seen sitting with young Narendra Modi & LK Advani.

Posting the picture on Twitter, Dipika captioned it as, "An old pic when I stood for election from baroda now called as Vadodara extreme right is our PM narendra modi ji nxt to hom was LK Advaniji and me and nalin bhatt in charge of the election @narendramodi @pmo #lkadvani (sic)."

For the uninitiated, Dipika Chikhlia won the Lok Sabha elections and was elected as a Member of Parliament from Vadodra constituency as a BJP candidate in 1991.

Coming back to 'Ramayana', it is an Indian historical-drama epic television series, which originally aired during 1987-1988, created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar. Later, show's re-runs were aired on Star Plus and Star Utsav.

The show was a television adaptation of the ancient Indian Hindu epic of the same name, and is primarily based on Valmiki's Ramayan and Tulsidas' Ramcharitmanas.

DD National, amid the Coronavirus lockdown, started broadcasting Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan' from March 28 and the show is fetching amazing numbers for the channel.
