Ram Kapoor Opens Up About Losing 55 Kgs: 'Never Took Ozempic Or Any Other Drug For Weight Loss'

Actor Ram Kapoor, known for his impressive acting chops on television and OTT platforms, has recently become an inspiration for many with his incredible physical transformation.

Actor Ram Kapoor, known for his impressive acting chops on television and OTT platforms, has recently become an inspiration for many with his incredible physical transformation. In December 2024, the actor shocked fans by revealing that he had shed an astounding 42 kgs, which has since grown to a total of 55 kgs. Speaking candidly on a podcast, Ram detailed his weight loss journey, the hurdles he encountered, and his take on the dieting industry.

Ram Kapoor on his weight loss journey

Ram reflected on how it all began, saying, “I started about a year and a half back and have managed to lose 55 kgs till now. Initially six months I was doing very well, but then I had a very bad fall, and my shoulder got screwed. I had to undergo surgery, followed by 8 months of physiotherapy. So, everything on the weight loss front stopped, it was those six months and another six months after that helped me transform. I never took Ozempic or any other drug for weight loss, neither did I do bariatric surgery, but does any of that matter? However, it is not wrong to do any of that because people do so to become a better version of themselves.”

Addressing rumours about his transformation, Ram revealed how people accused him of undergoing surgery or relying on supplements. He clarified, “People said that I did bariatric surgery, but then why would I hide it? What I did was, for 5 years before I achieved this, I went on a massive weight loss journey and shed 30 kgs, then I put it back on again. This helped me learn what I should not do, then I would stay up all night and read books by experts, and watch podcasts and I figured that there are two kinds of people in this world, one who cares about their fitness and health, and people who don’t.”

On the diet industry

Ram also voiced his concerns about the flaws in the multi-billion-dollar dieting industry. “The entire dieting industry, which is worth more than 20 billion dollars, is designed to make you fail, otherwise how will they exist, if you don’t keep going back to them? They will always tell you we will make you lose the weight, but they don’t tell you that you also have to change as a person after that to not put on the weight again. If you see athletes, they never focus on weight loss; they look at fat percentage, BMI, etc.”

Ram Kapoor's schedule

Ram credited his success to a disciplined lifestyle and an effective fitness regime. Sharing his schedule, he said, “I now eat twice a day, once at around 10:30 in the morning and then around 6:30 in the evening. Nothing for 8 hours in the middle, or 16 hours after that. Then I do 45 minutes of cardio, and 45 minutes of strength training, and monitor how much liquid you are drinking or sleep you are getting.”
