It was already revealed that Kapil isn't making a comeback with comedy genre but with a game show that will give participants the chance to win big prizes.
The reunion of 'Bumper' Kiku Sharda, 'Chandu' Chandan Prabhakar and Navjot Singh Sidhu with Kapil hasn't struck the right chords like the first two times with 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' and 'TKSS' either.
The show started with Kapil's entry on Salman Khan's chartbuster 'Swag Se Karenge Sabka Swagat' from 'Tiger Zinda Hai' and the grand entry made audience that were waiting with baited breath more hopeful with every passing minute.
The much chubbier looking Kapil began with his monologue cracking his signature style jokes as the families sitting in studio audience cheered him back on stage. Then entered Sidhu amid loud applause by audience. With a little fun banter between them, he gets seated on the kursi he brought with him.
"Hamare naye show mei aap sabka swagat hai.. mai aapko bataa dun ki naya-waya kuchh nahi hota..." -Said Kapil and when Sidhu said at one point.. "Bhagwan ki maya kabhi dhoop kabhi chhaya..".. Kapil says - "Aur Kapil film flop-flup karaake Sony pe waapis aaya"
Kapil speaks about the new show theme and tells the audience sitting there that other than the participants they too will get to win prizes with random games. He then engaged in some fun interactions with the studio audience for about 10.12 minutes cracking jokes and throwing funny punches.
He then introduced his hot co-host Neha Pendse as the 'Game Master' of the show and also took a dig at himself by saying to her "Myself Kapil! Naam to suna nahi hoga 6-7 maheene se!!!"(Myself Kapil! Mustn't have heard this name for the past 6-7 months though).
Neha then showed the grand gifts lying in the back space of the stage visible to audience explaining what FTWKS is all about.
There upon the show began with first two participants being two couples who were given the challenge of bursting the balloons lying on the floor with their bum.
The winning couple received diamond jewellary. In the initial minutes of the show, while everyone waited to enjoy some comedy, they were instead lured by giving away a diamond set in prize.
It was Chandan Prabhakar's entry then which brought the first sigh of relief but ended in disappointment.nHumorless banter and jokes between the real life buddies didn't still tickle that funny bone.
Chandan also engaged the studio audience with some games and questions asked randomly giving them chance to win prize were not impressive though. "Kaun sa aisa pakshi hai jiske sar par paer hote hain?" and "aisi kaun si cheez hai jisey aage se bhagwan ne aur peechhe se insaan ne banaya hai?"...
You will run out of wits if you dig in deeply for the answers since the first one is "any bird" since all the birds have head(sar)/wings(par)/legs(paer) and the other one is "animal cart".. Bah!
The next set of particpants are then called on stage and these two couples were given another interesting game to win. Husband had throw a balloon up in the air and then shift his wife (who was blindfolded with a pointed crown on head) around so as to burst the descending balloon.
Both the games looked equally funny.
The winning couple gets a wifi air conditioner and a smart LED TV.
It was then the time for Kiku Sharda's entry who was in the same old TKSS get up of 'Bumper'. She cried hard for being #OutofJob for pat 6 months. Kiku ticked some funny bones and we know the fabulous job he does every time he enters stage.
After Kiku leaves, two brothers-duo came as participants. With yet another funny game involving kachcha, the audience was in splits watching them struggle to win.
After this round was over, Kapil croons a song as one of these participants showed off his guitar playing skills.
In the 01.19hr long show, superstar Ajay Devgn entered at the 56th minute. Ajay as the special guest was promoted in the first promo of FTWKS.
Kapil yet again hints at the controversies surrounding his previous show by saying "Ajay paaji ki nayi film aa rahi hai aur mera naya show aa raha hai aur pichhle saal hum dono news mei aa rahe the!". (Remember how Kapil had allegedly made Ajay Devgn wait on the sets during TKSS[Ajay Devgn speaks about walking out of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’; Also REACTS on SRK’s rumored Boycott of the show!]?)
During Ajay's presence on stage, Kiku and Chandan also made entries one after the other and the whole section ended with Ajay-Bumper and Chandu-Neha competing for a fun ball game. The famous trio of Kapil-Kiku-Chandu for the first time gave us the same old fun feel of his previous shows.
Show's most entertaining section lasted for 2 minutes and Ajay bid goodbye to all with an advice to Kapil - "Film toh release ho gayi hai mai usey promote karne nahi aaya hun.. Bas itna kahunga ki Oopar wale ne itna talent diya hai.. itna talent diya hai Kapil ki usey kabhi waste mahi karna kyonki bohot kam logon ko aisa talent milta hai!".
In the end a bumper round was played and a car was given away as the bumper prize.
All in all.. the show was a huge disappointment for Kapil fans with only little humor in bits and pieces. However many have also been giving Kapil some grace points since it was just the first episode and they're happy to see him back.
Filmy Monkey had conducted a poll on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram asking fans if they liked it? And most of them have given it a thumbs down calling it "boring", "huge disapoointment" and "comedy missing".
While the clear verdict was a "No" by fans on Instagram and Faccebook... on Twitter the fanclubs worked their power and give an overall positive feedback to show.
Check out the poll results below and we just hope that Kapil laces up the show with more comedy in the upcoming episode or else with the initial reactions of the show it will prove a flop ahead.
