Preksha Mehta's suicide has left the TV industry and fans in a state of shock. Did the 'Crime Patrol' actress end her life due to the pressure of marriage? Her father opens up in an exclusive interview.

Mumbai: TV actress Preksha Mehta, who worked in shows like ‘Crime Patrol’ and ‘Laal Ishq’, committed suicide at her house in Indore. Her demise has left the TV industry and fans in a state of shock. Preksha was only 25 and everyone is surprised to know that she took the drastic step of ending her life at a young age. Her heartbreaking last message on Instagram, “The worst thing is death of dreams,” made everyone emotional. Preksha’s father Ravindra Mehta, while exclusively talking to ABP News over the phone, opened up about his daughter's demise. Ravindra, who runs a general store in Indore, said, “Preksha was quite tensed as the shoots were stopped due to COVID-19 lockdown. She was upset over the fact that the lockdown period was extended in Mumbai and the chances of shoots getting resumed were bleak. She didn’t like sitting idle without any work.” Ravindra Mehta told ABP News, "Whenever Preksha used to talk about the extension of lockdown, I used to tell her to not worry about it. After all, lockdown is for everyone and the entire world is upset due to it. We had no idea that she would take such a drastic step one day.” Also READ: Preksha Mehta's Suicide Letter Will Leave You Teary-Eyed! Ravindra Mehta, denied facing any financial crisis amid the lockdown. "We all sat together and talked till 11pm on the night she committed suicide. We didn’t realise she had any problems while talking to her. She went to sleep in her room at 11pm. We wake up early morning to exercise. When Preksha’s mother went to her room to wake her up, she saw the room’s light was switched on. She knocked on the door but didn’t get any response. When Preksha didn’t open the door, her mother opened the window from outside only to find her dead body hanging in her room,” he said.
ABP News spoke to Preksha’s friends, who said that her family was asking her to get settled and tie the knot. However, Preksha was against marrying without establishing herself in the industry. The actress had mentioned about the same to her friend during an Instagram Live session on May 20 in a casual manner. We asked Preksha’s father if she took the step of ending her life due the pressure of marriage. "Preksha herself told us that she will get married only after making her mark in the film and TV industry in 2-3 years. So we never pressurized her for marriage. Yes, sometimes we used to pull her legs and tell her to get hitched. A suicide note was found from Preksha’s room. The letter read, "Mere toote huye sapno ne mere confidence ka dam tod diya hai, main mare huye sapnon ke saath nahi jee sakti. Iss negativity ke saath rehna mushkil hai. Pichle ek saal se maine bohot koshish ki. Ab mein thak gayi hoon. (My shattered dreams have killed my confidence. I cannot live with dead dreams. It is difficult to live with this negativity. I tried a lot in the past one year. Now I'm tired.)" When we asked Preksha’s father about her suicide letter, he said, Praksha's father said, "After reading it, we also didn’t understand why she wrote it."
Preksha, who worked in shows like ‘Meri Durga’, ‘Laal Ishq’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’, recently shot for a film titled ‘Sakha’. She was playing the lead role in the film. The director and lead actor of the film Priyanshu told ABP News that Preksha dubbed for ‘Sakha’ in a studio in Indore. “We watched the film together. Preksha became a good friend of mine. She was always smiling but she never discussed her problems with me. I was shocked when I came to know that she committed suicide,” Priyanshu said.
