New Delhi: A special NDPS court on Monday (November 23) granted bail to comedienne Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa, who were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau for allegedly possessing and consuming banned drug. They were granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 15,000 each. A Mumbai court on Sunday (November 22) sent the couple to judicial custody till December 4. Bharti and Haarsh's lawyer Ayaz Khan filed bail application after the court passed its order.

The NCB conducted a raid at Bharti and Haarsh's house in Mumbai on Saturday and recovered 86.5 grams of cannabis, a report in ANI said. The drugs law enforcement agency seized drugs from their place and summoned them for questioning. While Singh was arrested late on Saturday, the NCB nabbed her husband on Sunday after a long interrogation. The agency raided their house after receiving specific information from the drug peddlers, who were arrested last week. The couple reportedly confessed to consuming drugs, the report in the news agency added.



Bharti and Harsh's arrest sent shockwaves in the inner circles of the film and TV industry.  They were arrested on charges of alleged possession of small quantity of cannabis and consumption of drugs.

NCB's Investigation In Bollywood Drugs Case


The NCB has intensified its probe into the alleged Bollywood drugs case, which stemmed from Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. The agency received official communication from the Enforcement Directorate to examine the drug angle in Sushant's death case after various chats related to drug consumption came to the fore during the investigation.

The NCB officials have grilled several tinsel town celebs including Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Firoz Nadiadwala as part of their investigation in the case. Earlier this month, the agency conducted a raid at Rampal's house and summoned the actor and his girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades for questioning. The 'Rock On' actor was quizzed for close to six hours while Gabriella was interrogated for two consecutive days.

The agency also arrested Firoz Nadiadwala's wife Shabana Saeed after drugs were recovered from her house in Mumbai. A Mumbai court granted her bail on a personal bond of Rs 15,000 in the drug recovery case.

For the uninitiated, the NCB arrested Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty for allegedly procuring and financing drugs for the 'Dil Bechara' actor under various sections of the NDPS Act. The Bombay High Court granted her bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. However, her brother Showik Chakraborty's bail plea was rejected by the court.
