SDCC 2023: Rana Daggubati Announces Comics, Series & 'Hiranyakashyapa' with Trivikram; Gunasekhar Reacts

Gunasekhar had earlier announced 'Hiranyakashyapa'. At the time, Rana Daggubati was his first choice to play the titular role. Now, at the SDCC, Rana announced the same concept film with Trivikram

New Delhi: Rana Daggubati, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan are in San Diego for the grand Comic Con fest. On the occasion, the producer-actor announces a slate of exciting projects that will surely make fans want more. As per reports, Rana's production house, Spirit Media participated in the San Diego Comic Con and announced a host of upcoming projects; the most covered being 'Hiranyakashyapa' a movie based on the medieval king. 

Interestingly, the issue around 'Hiranyakashyapa' is that filmmaker Gunasekhar had announced 'Hiranyakashyapa' earlier and even worked on it before 'Rudramadevi'( 2015). At that time, Rana was Gunasekhar's first choice for Hiranyakashyapa's character as is known by many. 

However, Rana Daggubati's sudden announcement during Comic-Con about the same concept with filmmaker Trivikram has sparked a debate online. In response, Gunasekhar even indirectly took a dig at Rana Daggubati by tweeting, "While making God the central theme of your story, you must also keep in mind that God keeps an eye on your integrity. Unethical acts will be answered through ethical means."

 

As of now, Rana Daggubati has remained silent on the matter.

Besides 'Hiranyakashyapa', Rana' production company will also be producing a web series that will revolve around the historical story of the Chalukyas for Sony LIV. As per glute.com, the series will be based on the book 'Lords of the Deccan' and will also have the same name.

Rana's production house will also bring to animation many of Amar Chitra Katha's comics. 

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the entire array of titles announced by Daggubati at SDCC 2023.
