New Delhi: The historical action drama 'Razakar' that had a successful theatrical run in Telugu is all set for its release in Hindi and Marathi on April 26. Razakar Review: It's widely known that many valiant freedom fighters in our country fought relentlessly against British rule, with some sacrificing their lives to liberate the nation. However, lesser-known is the annexation of the princely state of Hyderabad, which occurred almost a year after India gained independence. The film 'Razakar' delves into the conception and execution of this operation, portraying India's triumph in one of its most ambitious missions.

Despite efforts by India's then Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, to integrate numerous princely states into the nation post-independence, the Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, chose to maintain his rule over an independent Hyderabad. Eventually, after facing strong opposition from the oppressive rulers of Hyderabad, India was compelled to take decisive action, leading to the annexation of Hyderabad a year after independence.

'Razakar' vividly depicts how Mir Osman Ali Khan, portrayed by Makrand Deshpande, and the militant-minded Kasim Razvi, played by Raj Arjun, conspire to resist India's demand for integration, opting instead to suppress their own people ruthlessly. There was a genuine concern that the Nizam of Hyderabad might align with Pakistan, posing a significant threat to India's interests.

 

Directed by Yata Satyanarayana, 'Razakar' is a gripping film that captivates audiences from start to finish. The portrayal of brutality inflicted upon Hindus by the Razakars is deeply unsettling, while the well-choreographed action sequences keep viewers engrossed. The cinematography effectively captures the dramatic events unfolding on screen, while the music complements the film's violent and historical theme.
