New Delhi: In the early hours of Monday, production executive Baiju Paravoor of the Malayalam film industry, who was helming his first film Secret, passed unexpectedly. The deceased's family believes that food poisoning was the cause of his death. He was 42.

On Saturday, Baiju, who is from Paravoor, Kollam, travelled to Kozhikode for a movie discussion. Before going home, he ate there at a restaurant. On the way back, though, Baiju experienced pain and decided to go to his wife's house in Kunnamkulam, where he received medical attention at a nearby hospital. On Sunday, he left for home again, still sick. The director-production executive returned to a Kuzhuppilly hospital for treatment, but as his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to a private hospital in Kochi. He breathed his last on Monday.

His family believes that food poisoning caused his death, even if the exact cause is still unknown.

In the past 20 years, Baiju Paravoor has worked as a production executive and production controller on numerous Malayalam films. With the next film Secret, which will be released the following month, he was prepared to make his directorial debut. In addition, he wrote the script, dialogue, and story for the movie.

Baiju's funeral was held on Monday night. He is survived by his wife Chithra, his kids Aradhya and Arav, and his grandchildren.
