Leo Advance Booking: Vijay's Film Beats Shah Rukh Khan Starrer Jawan In Number Of Tickets Sold

Despite the controversy around early shows for Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Leo', the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has managed to beat SRK's 'Jawan' in terms of advance bookings figure.

New Delhi: Despite the controversy around early shows for Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Leo', the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has managed to beat SRK's 'Jawan' in terms of advance bookings figures. As per trade analysis site Sacnilk, 'Leo' has already sold 16 lakh tickets and may sell about 20 lakh tickets before the opening day.

With the numbers that the analysis site shared, it seems that Vijay's 'Leo' has beaten Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan', which was released last month. 'Jawan' had sold for about Rs. 15. 75 lakh tickets in advance bookings for its opening day.

As per the same site, the Tamil version of Leo has sold 13.75 lakh tickets, whereas the Telugu and Hindi versions stand at 2.10 lakh and 20,000 tickets respectively.

However, despite the higher advance booking figure, 'Leo' has grossed a lesser amount than that of 'Jawan'. While Lokesh Kanagarj's film has collected Rs. 31 cr so far, 'Jawan' earned from Rs. 41 cr via advance booking.  The difference in collection can also be because of the varied ticket pricing.

In case of 'Jawan', the average ticket price for the opening day was Rs. 251 while for 'Leo', it is Rs. 202.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, 'Leo' is facing release hurdles in its biggest target state: Tamil Nadu. After fans vandalised theatre seats in Tamil Nadu over Leo's trailer release, the Madras High Court directed the producers not to have 4:00 AM shows. While there have been reports that 7:00 AM shows will happen, as per film critic and trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, that will not be the case.

The number of shows in a day has also been restricted to five, between 9 AM and 1:30 AM, given the film's runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes, a mandatory interval time of 20 minutes, and 40 minutes for cleaning the cinema hall after every show, reported Hindustan Times.

'Leo' is all set to release this Thursday, October 19, 2023, in 2D and IMAX in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and Kannada.
