In the latest update, the husband of the fan, who died at the 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' premiere in Hyderabad, has said that he holds no grudge against the actor and is even willing to withdraw the case filed against him. On Friday, Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the death of a woman named Revathy in the stampede during the film’s premiere.
What husband of the woman who died said
In a statement given to the press following Allu Arjun's arrest on Friday, Revathy’s husband Bhaskar said he is ready to withdraw the case. “We only went to Sandhya Theatre that day because my son wanted to watch the movie. It’s not Allu Arjun’s fault that he visited the theatre that day. I am ready to withdraw my case. Police didn’t inform me of his arrest; I saw it on the news while at the hospital. He (Arjun) has nothing to do with the stampede,” he told media.
This comes as a significant shift in the case, as it was Bhaskar’s complaint that led to the actor’s arrest. On Friday morning, Hyderabad Police arrived at Allu Arjun’s home in Jubilee Hills, took him into custody, and took him to the station for questioning. The actor was later taken for a medical examination at Osmania General Hospital before being presented in court.
What happened at Pushpa 2 Hyderabad premiere
On the evening of December 4, chaos erupted at Sandhya Theatre, located in the bustling RTC Crossroads area of Hyderabad. Allu Arjun had visited the theatre to watch the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule with his fans. However, the large crowd quickly turned into a stampede-like situation, tragically claiming the life of Revathi, while her son was left critically injured.
In response, police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management at the Chikkadpally police station, citing sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complaint, filed by Revathi's family, served as the basis for the actor’s arrest.
Earlier, the actor had announced financial aid of ₹25 lakh for the family of the deceased woman. He also shared his condolences in a heartfelt video posted on X.
