Allu Arjun has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman following a stampede at the Hyderabad premiere of his film Pushpa 2 on December 4. The tragic incident claimed the life of a woman and left her son in critical condition.


The actor has been taken to Chikkadpally police station for questioning.






Earlier, Allu Arjun had filed a plea at the Telangana High Court, requesting the quashing of an FIR lodged against him in connection with the death. In his petition, Arjun has sought a stay on all legal proceedings, including potential arrest, until the matter is resolved in court.


What happened at the Hyderabad premiere of Pushpa 2


The incident took place on December 4, when a large crowd thronged Sandhya Theatre to see the star. The 35-year-old woman died of asphyxiation in the chaos, while her eight-year-old son was hospitalised. Following the tragedy, the Chikkadpally police registered a case on December 5 against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The FIR was based on a complaint filed by the woman’s family.

The actor also announced financial aid of ₹25 lakh for the family of the deceased woman. He also shared his condolences in a heartfelt 3-minute-47-second video posted on X.


“Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally,” he wrote. 


Speaking in Telugu, Arjun described the crowd at the theatre as “unexpected” and shared he only learned about the tragic incident the following morning. “We found out that a mother of two children, Revathi, unfortunately, died. It’s shocking and deeply saddening. We make films for people to enjoy, and something like this is devastating. None of us feel like celebrating,” he said.
