New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt recently opened up about his cancer diagnosis. The actor was diagnosed with Lung cancer in 2020. The actor came out of his battle with cancer victorious and he announced he was cancer-free months after his diagnosis.
The actor said that the news of his diagnosis wasn't shared with him properly as he did not have any family members by his side and his first reaction was to not get any treatment.
"I have a history of cancer in my family. My mom (Nargis) died of pancreatic cancer, and my late wife (Richa Sharma) died of brain cancer. So, the first thing I said was, I don't want to take chemotherapy. If I'm supposed to die, I will just die, but I don't want any treatment," the actor said in an event, according to ETimes.
“I had a back ache and was treated with hot water bottle and pain-killers until one day I couldn't breathe. I was taken to the hospital but the thing was that the cancer news was not broken to me properly. My wife, my family or my sisters, nobody was around me that time. I was all alone and suddenly this guy comes and tells me 'you have cancer'.”
He decided to put up a fight for his family. "I saw my family break down around me. If I fall sick or if I break down, they will fall sick and break down. So, I decided to fight it," he said.
Dr. Limaye, who treated Dutt, revealed that the actor worked out for two hours every day despite undergoing chemotherapy.
Sanjay Dutt also shared that he didn't want to hide his diagnosis from the world. "I didn't want to lie about cancer. People don't want to make it public and not tell people due to many factors. But I chose to speak.”
Sanjay Dutt was last seen in Shamshera also starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor.
