EXCLUSIVE: Ranbir Kapoor Is Excited About 'Shamshera' But Not Confident. Know Why

Ranbir Kapoor will be back on the big screen after four years with his film ‘Shamshera’. In an exclusive conversation with ABP News, Ranbir spoke in length about how confident he is about the film.

Ranbir Kapoor Exclusive Interview: Ranbir Kapoor will be back on the big screen after almost four years with his film ‘Shamshera’. The film, which is slated to release on July 22, is a high-octane, adrenaline-pumping entertainer set in the 1800s in the heartland of India. It has the big promise of a never-seen-before Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Shamshera in the film. Sanjay Dutt plays Ranbir’s arch-enemy in this huge casting coup and his showdown with Ranbir will be something to watch out for as they will ferociously go after each other with no mercy.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, this action extravaganza has been produced by Aditya Chopra and is set to release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu this Friday.

In an exclusive conversation with ABP News, Ranbir Kapoor spoke in length about how confident he is about the film, his career, and stardom. When asked whether he was paid double the amount in the film as he is playing a double role, Ranbir jokingly replied that he didn’t get paid at all.

Here are the excerpts from the interview:

There is a lot of buzz around 'Shamshera', how confident are you about the film?

I am excited about the film but being confident is a big word. No filmmaker or actor is fully confident about their film as there is always an anticipation of how the audience will take the film. A film is like a baby and everyone associated gives their love, sweat, and more to it. So, it’s always a mixed feeling with lots of emotions. Happiness, Excitement yes but fully confident, not so much.

How close are you to this character in real life?

I am completely different from both the characters that I am playing in the film. Shamshera doesn’t have a single trait of mine, I had to borrow a lot from my director Karan Malhotra’s conviction of Shamshera. I took his angst and confidence to portray Shamshera convincingly. I hope that the audience will love my never-seen-before avatars in the film.

Do you remember any incident from your childhood when you robbed something?

Every time I used to go on a trip with my parents in India or abroad, I had a habit of picking everything I liked from the shops thinking it was all free. I used to get a good one from my parents for this. I think we all have robbed something or the other in our life.

Do you ever think that you have achieved the stardom that you had wished for?

Stardom is temporary, you can be a star one Friday and nothing the next. I know the immense love that I have received from the audience is because of my films. If my films don’t work well, I will be nothing. The only thing I know I am in control of is my hard work.
