Priyanka Chopra Poses With Daughter Malti For Magazine Cover; Recalls ' I Had Medical Complications', Surrogacy Was 'Necessary'

Sharing that Malti was born a full trimester too early, Priyanka Chopra said, "I was in the OR [operating room] when she came out. She was so small, smaller than my hand."

New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra posed with her daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas on the cover of a leading international magazine. Priyanka featured on British Vigue's cover with her daughter Malti, without revealing her face, opened up about motherhood and why she opted for surrogacy due to 'medical complications'.

Sharing that Malti was born a full trimester too early, she said, "I was in the OR [operating room] when she came out. She was so small, smaller than my hand."

“I saw what the intensive-care nurses do. They do God’s work. Nick and I were both standing there as they intubated her. I don’t know how they even found what they needed [in her tiny body] to intubate her.” She added, “I didn’t know if she would make it or not.”

Priyanka revealed that she had medical complications meaning that she could not carry the child herself. "I had medical complications,” she said, “this was a necessary step, and I’m so grateful I was in a position where I could do this. Our surrogate was so generous, kind, lovely and funny, and she took care of this precious gift for us for six months.”

On the cover featuring her daughter, Priyanka wore a red bodycon dress while Malti was dressed in a red skirt. Meanwhile, in the other pictures shared by Priyanka, we saw her in a blue cut-out dress and a yellow translucent dress.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas were married in 2018. They announced the birth of their first child last year in January. Malti Marie carries the middle name of both Priyanka and Nick's mothers.
