Pakistani Theatre Artist And Comedian Tariq Teddy Passes Away In Lahore

The popular comedian was admitted to Farooq Hospital in Lahore due to a liver problem, reported Dawn. Tariq was in need of a transplant when he was admitted to the hospital.

New Delhi: Pakistani theatre artist Tariq Teddy passed away on Saturday at the age of 46. The popular comedian was admitted to Farooq Hospital in Lahore due to a liver problem, reported Dawn. Tariq was in need of a transplant when he was admitted to the hospital.

Teddy hailed from Faisalabad in Pakistan. He was laid to rest at Shah Fareed Darbar in Sabzazar Colony, Lahore. Punjab's Cheif Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said in a statement, "We will not leave the deceased’s family alone at such a difficult time. As a comedian, he made a lot of people laugh and spread joy." He also announced that Rs. 3 million will be allocated to Teddy's family as monetary aid.

As per a report in Dawn, Teddy's brother Shehbaz said that he was earlier admitted to the PKLI [Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute] earlier in November where he was in the ICU. "He is a bit stable now but is still in the ICU. He was earlier on a ventilator but doctors have removed the ventilator now,” Shehbaaz had told the publication.

Tariq began his career in the performing arts in the 90s. He was known for Punjabi stage dramas and was also part of the film 'Salakhein'. He was active in genres such as observational comedy, physical comedy, surreal humour, character comedy, satire and slapstick.

His well known stage dramas include 'Do Rangeley', Jhoo Bolda', 'Mirch Masala', 'Ghoonghat Utha Loon', 'Eid Da Chan', 'Ji Karda', Beatho Beatho Liya Dala', 'Asli Tay Naqli' among others.

Tariq Teddy is survived by a son.
