New Delhi: Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai is stepping into the world of acting with a cameo in the second season of the British series 'We Are Lady Parts'. Her first look from the series has now gone viral, featuring Malala wearing a cowboy hat while riding a horse. The episode starring the 26-year-old activist is titled 'Malala Made Me Do It' and includes actors Anjana Vasan, Sarah Kameela Impey, Juliette Motamed, Lucie Shorthouse, and Faith Omole.


In an interview with The New York Times, the director of  'We Are Lady Parts' Nida Manzoor revealed that Malala was invited to join the show through a heartfelt letter. 


The episode, which premiered as part of the second season on May 30, features a country song with the same title, adding a unique twist to Malala's appearance.




Speaking to Vogue, Malala expressed her surprise and excitement about her role: "I thanked Nida for making it, and for making We Are Lady Parts. They’re so important and reach so many people. They aren’t just for brown people – there’s so much in them that everyone can relate to, from friendship and family dynamics to having the confidence to follow your passions. That’s why I wanted to get into the entertainment world, too, because I want young people and women to get a chance to reflect the world as they see it, and through those stories, we can all connect with each other." 


Malala praised the series for its positive portrayal of Muslim girls, highlighting that it allows viewers "to connect with them and relate to them."

After its 2021 debut, ‘We Are Lady Parts Season 1’ swiftly gained a loyal fan base. The Muslim female punk rock band "Lady Parts" is the focus of the British comedy series, created by Nida Manzoor. The second season is now streaming on Peacock.
