Nayanthara & Vignesh Shivan To Get Married On June 9: Everything You Need To Know

Nayanthara Vignesh Shivan Wedding: From inviting CM Stalin to finalising the wedding venue here's what we know.

Chennai: The actor-director couple, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, who first fell in love on the sets of the movie “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” are soon going to take their love to the next level by tying a knot on June 9. The couple is going to get married in an intimate ceremony at a private resort in ECR, Chennai. The couple has also planned for a star-studded reception at the same venue on Thursday.

The couple, who started to date in 2015, got engaged in a private ceremony in 2021. Their engagement made news when the actor revealed about her engagement ring during a promotional interview for her movie ‘Netrikann’ to a private channel.

The couple then started to hint about their wedding during the promotions of their movie “Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal”, which hit the screens in April 2022. During the promotions, the director said that they postponed their wedding plans since they wanted to do deliver another hit project like “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” before their wedding but the movie got delayed due to the pandemic and production works further delayed their wedding. 

In the interviews, he also said that when they get married everyone will know about it and it will not be a rumour.

Just as promised, Director Vignesh Shivan on Tuesday made his marriage public during a press meet.

‘Intimate Ceremony On June 9’

In the press meet, Vignesh Shivan said, “Like how your blessings have helped me in the professional front, I need all your support for my personal life as well. I am moving into the next stage of my personal life."

"I am going to get married to the love of my life Nayanthara on June 9. It'll be an intimate event at Mahabalipuram with close family and friends," he said.

Wedding Venue

Earlier, there were media reports suggesting that the wedding would take place in Tirupathi. So commenting on the speculations, Vignesh said, "Initially we planned for a wedding in Tirupathi but due to logistic issues we could not plan for the event."

Later, Vignesh also said that he will officially share the picture of the wedding on the afternoon of June 9. 

He also assured that as a newly-married couple they would meet the press on June 11 and have lunch together.

Minutes after the announcement the netizens also started to trend a digital video invitations for the couple’s wedding.

Invitation

The netizens circulated a digital wedding card with traditional illustrations of the bride Nayanthara and groom Vignesh Shivan. The invite also had a background music from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, the first collaboration of the duo in 2015.



The guests

The Kollywood’s power couple personally invited TN CM Stalin, his son and actor Udhayanidhi Stalin for the wedding last week. The pictures of the couple along with the CM and the MLA also went viral on social media.

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have also invited celebrities and friends from the industry including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Anirudh Ravichander, Vijay Sethupathi, Sivakarthikeyan, Suriya, Ajith, Karthi, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Dhivya Darshini among others.

However, the couple is yet to make their guest list public.

Meanwhile, speculations are also rife that the wedding will be made into a documentary and will be broadcast on an OTT platform.
