Mumbai Police Arrests TV Actor For Allegedly Cheating People Posing As A Police Officer
Reportedly, the accused used to pose as a police officer and cheat people primarily in Uttarakhand and Chandigarh. Read on.
New Delhi: A 40-year-old Television actor has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police for allegedly cheating people by posing himself as a police officer reportedly. The actor has acted in Television serials like 'Chhattrapati Raja Shivaji', 'Savdhan India' reportedly. The accused has also acted in the movie ‘Gulamkai and Bahanchor’ apparently.

According to a report of PTI, the accused used to pose as a police officer and cheat people primarily in Uttarakhand and Chandigarh. The report added that the actor used to commit the crime in Dehradun and other northern cities and then fly back to Mumbai.
An official told the wire, “Interestingly, the accused used to travel by air to Dehradun, Chandigarh and other cities in north India to commit the crime. He then used to fly back to Mumbai. The accused had acted in television serials like 'Chittorgarh ki Rajkumari Padmini', 'Chhattrapati Raja Shivaji', 'Savdhan India' and in movies like 'Gulamkai and Bahanchor'.”
“A case was registered at Patel Nagar police station in Dehradun under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for cheating. The Dehradun police tracked down the accused to Oshiwara in Mumbai with technical assistance”, added the official.
The Mumbai Crime Branch then nabbed the 40-year-old actor on Monday evening from his residence in Oshiwara after receiving a piece of specific information from the Dehradun Police about the alleged involvement of the accused in cheating an old woman and stealing her gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh.
The official further said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused committed three offences in Nagpur and two in Uttarakhand. The accused has been handed over to Dehradun Police on a transit remand.”
Reportedly, during the interrogation the accused initially refuted the charges citing the police that he has a good reputation and is working in the TV industry. However, later he admitted to his involvement in the case. The actor was then arrested by the Mumbai Police.
