New Delhi: Like every year, Bollywood marked its presence all through the year with exciting news from the entertainment industry. However, there were some celebs who hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. As the year is coming to an end, we bring to you top 5 controversies that shook the entertainment industry in 2021.

Aryan Khan’s Drugs on cruise case

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's elder son Aryan Khan was arrested by the Mumbai Police on October 3 for his alleged involvement in the drugs-on-cruise case. After several court hearings and a lot of grilling by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the star kid was finally granted bail on October 28. Post the fulfillment of all formalities, Aryan finally walked out of Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail on October 30.

The 23-year-old Aryan Khan was finally declared free of having any evidence against him, nullifying his alleged involvement in the drugs-on-cruise case.

Raj Kundra’s Pornography case

Businessman and actor Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra who was arrested by the Crime branch on July 19 citing his alleged involvement in the production and circulation of pornographic content on mobile applications. After spending over 60 days in jail custody, Kundra was finally granted bail in September at a surety of Rs. 50,000. 

Earlier in December, the Supreme Court granted protection from arrest to Raj in connection with an FIR, which was registered against the businessman for allegedly distributing obscene videos.

Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter ban

Bollywood Kangana Ranut who is known for sparking controversies with her comments, was banned from the social media application Twitter in May. This happened after the 'Thalaivii' actress made a bunch of controversial statements and comments with regard to the West Bengal elections.

The actress was also supposed to make an appearance at the Mumbai Police station in December, with regard to an FIR filed against her for hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community through a post on Instagram.

Alleged rape case against actor Pearl V Puri

Facing allegations of rape, television actor Pearl V Puri was arrested in the month of June. The 'Naagin 3' actor was accused of raping a minor girl on a film set in Vasai where he was shooting in October 2019. Talking about his personal losses in an interview, the actor said that he was hit with a 'ghastly accusation.'

The actor was granted bail on June 15. 

High Profile Celebrity Divorces (Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao & Samantha Prabhu- Naga Chatainya)

Bollywood celebrities are known for their hook-ups and break-ups. But there are times when the news of their favourite celebrity couple's seperation hits fans really hard. Something similar happened when south actors Naga Chaitanya Akkineni and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, one of the most-loved celebrity couples, announced their seperation in October. 

Bollywood's perfectionist Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao's seperation also came as a surprise for the actor's fans. Putting an end to their marriage that lasted for 15 years, the couple finally seperated on cordial terms, saying that they would like to begin a new chapter in their lives' as co-parents for their son Azaad.
