New Delhi: Millions of cricket fans are heartbroken after Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday (August 15). Captain Cool has decided to hang his boots after an illustrious 15-year-old career. MS Dhoni took to social media to inform the fans about his decision to retire from international cricket. Fans simply love their Mahi and they made his biopic featuring late Sushant Singh Rajput a blockbuster. The sports drama had managed to set the box office on fire when it released in 2016.

Sushant, who essayed the role of the Chennai Super Kings captain in ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, was asked about his views on Dhoni’s retirement during a summit last year. Speculations about Dhoni’s retirement were doing the rounds since the time the former Indian cricket skipper played his last ODI against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

The ‘Chhichhore’ actor, who had admitted to being a huge MSD fan, said that the cricketer was the best person to take the decision regarding his retirement.

"When we read a book on leadership qualities, he has all of them. So when a person like him who has served India for such a long time, I believe he is the best person to make this decision (to retire), no one else," Sushant was quoted as saying by PTI.

The 'Raabta' star had worked very hard to fit into the role of MSD in his biopic. He even mastered Dhoni's signature 'Helicopter shot' for the film. The 'Dil Bechara' actor had received praises from all the corners for his performance in the Neeraj Pandey directorial.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his apartment in Mumbai on June 14. His untimely demise left the entire film industry and fans in a state of shock. MS Dhoni's manager and his biopic producer Arun Pandey, while talking to ABP Ananda, had said that the former skipper was shattered after hearing the news of Sushant's demise.

“We can’t even believe what has happened. I am not in a position to express my grief. Mahi is also very morose. Such a tragic incident," Arun told the news channel.
