New Delhi: Sanjay Dutt was admitted to the Lilavati hospital last week after he complained of breathlessness. The actor underwent a swab test for COVID-19 and fortunately, the results came out negative. Unfortunately, after the actor was discharged from the hospital, the news of him getting diagnosed with lung cancer broke out. Fans from around the globe have been praying for the well-being of the actor since then. Wife Maanayata and his two children flew back to Mumbai in a special plane from Dubai immediately to stand by Dutt in this tough time.

On the occasion of 74th Independence Day, Sanjay Dutt took to his social media and tweeted for the first time after being diagnosed with the deadly disease. The ‘Khal Nayak’ actor wished his followers a Happy Independence Day with a picture.

His tweet read, “Jai Hind. Happy Independence Day to all”



Also, when the news of his lung cancer broke out, the ‘Rocky’ actor’s wife Maanayata Dutt released a statement saying that the family needs the strength and prayers to overcome this difficult phase. She added that Sanju has always been a fighter and this too shall pass.

Her statement read, “I thank everyone who has expressed their well wishes for Sanju’s speedy recovery. We need all the strength and prayers to overcome this phase. There is a lot that the family has gone through in the past years but I am confident, this too shall pass. However, it is my heartfelt request to Sanju’s fans to not fall prey to speculations and unwarranted rumours, but to just help us with their ongoing love, warmth and support. Sanju has always been a fighter, and so has our family. God has yet again chosen to test us to overcome the challenges ahead. All we seek is your prayers and blessings, and we know we will emerge as winners on the other side, as we always have. Let us use this opportunity to spread light and positivity.”

Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming movie ‘Sadak 2’ will hit the digital platform Disney+Hotstar on August 28.
