Vikrant, who was known for being critical of the BJP but has shifted his stance recently, stated that the situation in India is not as dire as it is often portrayed. He emphasised that India is the best place to live.
“Things that I used to think was bad, they actually aren’t bad, from my point of view. The things that I used to like about others, they aren’t that good in reality. I am also a constantly evolving person. Today I feel it is not as bad. People say Hindus are in danger, I don’t think they are in danger. People say Muslims are in danger, no one is in danger. Everything is going well. This is the best country to live in the world. Go to Europe, France, America, you will see and know what is happening. This is the only livable country right now and this is the only country which is the future of the world," Vikrant said during a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast, Unplugged.
The 'Chhapaak' actor further mentioned that he perceives no clear Left or Right ideology, but rather a division between Right and Anti-Right. “There is a definite right ideology. But there’s an anti-right ideology. I don’t see a left anymore," he remarked.

He shared a personal anecdote about his father-in-law who lives in a small town in Himachal. Vikrant pointed out that while it used to take four hours for a truck to reach the National Highway, infrastructure improvements have changed that and elevated the standard of living.
“The country is developing. I have also been respected and honoured by the Government of India. I was called to the oath-taking ceremony. My film is shown to kids in Government schools, I didn’t ask them to show but they were shown '12th Fail' so that they can be inspired to make a mark and contribute towards the development of the country. So these are good things, I am happy…" he said.
Vikrant noted that he has evolved and hinted at his appreciation for the efforts of the current government to enhance the country’s progress.
His comments have sparked controversy, with some accusing him of shifting his stance to align with mainstream narratives and promote his film.
On the professional front, Vikrant will appear in 'The Sabarmati Report', a film based on the events surrounding the 27 February 2002 Godhra train burning incident involving the Sabarmati Express. The film also starring Riddhi Dogra and Rashii Khanna, releases in theatres on November 15.
