Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza's film 'Ved' is shattering box office records.

New Delhi: 'Ved', starring Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza, has been a box office success and is well received by viewers and critics. Deshmukh's debut Marathi film as a filmmaker released on December 30.

Along with accolades for Riteish's direction and acting, 'Ved' has made Rs 44.9 crore in revenue. After Sairat, which came out in 2016, the romantic drama is currently the second-highest-grossing Marathi movie of all time.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the figures and wrote, "#Marathi film #Ved is now the SECOND HIGHEST GROSSING #Marathi film, after #Sairat… As expected, biz doubles on [third] Sat [vis-à-vis Fri], expect big gains on Sun again… This one refuses to SLOW DOWN… [Week 3] Fri 1.35 cr, Sat 2.72 cr. Total: ₹ 44.92 cr."

On Saturday, Ved brought in Rs 2.72 crore, and it is anticipated that Sunday will bring in a similar amount.

The film directed by Riteish Deshmukh is a remake of 'Majili', a 2019 Telugu movie. 'Ved', which reportedly cost approximately Rs 15 crore to produce, is not only shattering box office records in Marathi, but also turning a profit.

In addition to Riteish and Genelia, Salman Khan, who was featured in the song Ved Lavlay, makes a special appearance. Genelia makes her Marathi film debut with this project.

Meanwhile, Riteish and Genelia co-starred in the comedy 'Mister Mummy', which released the previous year in November 18.

Riteish Deshmukh will next be featured in the upcoming horror-comedy 'Kakuda' with Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem and in '100 percent' with John Abraham, Nora Fatehi, and Shehnaaz Gill. Both films are directed by Sajid Khan.
