Irrfan Khan will once again be seen on the big screen in his film 'The Songs of Scorpions'.

Irrfan plays a camel dealer in this Rajasthani folktale who is in love with Nooran (Golshifteh Farahani), a woman who is the only one who is familiar with the song she uses to treat scorpion bite victims. In the trailer, Nooran is seen walking across the desert on foot in order to sing for people who have been stung by scorpions to save their lives. Irrfan develops feelings for her, and she also returns his affection.

Anup Singh, the director, revealed to Hindustan Times how he wrote the male protagonist for Irrfan. “Yes, when I first started writing the male character, I even named him ‘Irrfan’! That’s how I saw the character. There’s the spirit of a musician in Irrfan. Though we don’t really say much to each other, we listen to each other’s timbre, modulation, tone of voice, and improvise dialogues like two musical instruments would! We have a deep understanding and respect for each other’s creative inspiration," he said.

Golshifteh Farahani, Waheeda Rahman, and Shashank Arora have major parts in the film, which is also produced by Zeeshan Ahmad. The trailer for the Irrfan Khan starrer dropped on 19 April. In Switzerland, at the Locarno Film Festival, 'The Song of Scorpions' had its world premiere. The film's new theatrical release is set for April 28, 2023, the day before Irrfan Khan's death anniversary.
