New Delhi: Sudipto Sen's feature film 'The Kerala Story' has been the subject of a lot of debate. The movie, which is based on the alleged conversion of young women and their recruitment by the terrorist organisation Islamic State (ISIS), is currently approaching the Rs 200 crore mark at the domestic box office.

The film's third Sunday revenue at the box office is anticipated to be in the double digits, adding roughly Rs 9 crores on day 16. The movie earned a total of 187 crores. This an extraordinary feat for a movie made with an estimated Rs 20 crore budget.

The movie can once more bring in a double-digit number on Sunday, according to film industry expert Taran Adarsh's tweet.

Sharing the total collection of the film till now, he wrote, “#TheKeralaStory shows its strength on [third] Sat… Biz jumps yet again [+38.64%]… Should hit double digits today [Sun], taking it closer to ₹ 200 cr… [Week 3] Fri 6.60 cr, Sat 9.15 cr. Total: ₹ 187.47 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice.”

The review of the film on ABP Live reads: 'The Kerala Story', in that regard, is very-well cut. The parallel storylines of past and present is pretty well-balanced with the makers sometimes extending scenes and sequences of brutal violence, rape and exploitation to hit home the agony of the women affected by it. A lot of closeups are also used in the present storyline when their situations in life have worsened and the aftermath, severe, verses when all was all in the past. In the past storyline, a lot of mid shots and long shots, to reveal the overarching environment's affect on the lead characters, are used.

'The Kerala Story' has been directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Shah. Among the leading actors are Adah Sharma, Sonia Balani, Yogita Bihani, and Siddhi Idnani. The movie was released in theatres on May 5.
