In the 1948 film 'Aag', directed by his brother Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor made his acting debut as a child actor. In Yash Chopra's political drama 'Dharmputra' from 1961, he played his debut role as an adult. Soumitra Chatterjee, on the other hand, made his debut with the film 'Apur Sansar' released in 1959.
