New Delhi: Popular Tamil actor and comedian Vivek passed away on Saturday (April 17, 2021) after suffering a cardiac attack. The ‘Sivaji’ actor was admitted to the ICU on Friday morning and he also underwent an ‘emergency coronary angiogram followed by angioplasty’ yesterday. The 59-years old actor breathed his last in Chennai.
The news of his death shocked the South Indian film industry. Many celebrities including Samantha Akkineni, Genelia D’Souza and others paid condolences to the actor on their social media and expressed their grief and shock at his passing away.
Superstar Rajinikanth also took to his official Twitter account and expressed his grief. He shared a note which read, “Iconic artist, social worker and my close friend Vivek’s demise is excruciating.” Rajinikanth further revealed in his post that he cannot forget the days he spent with Vivek while shooting for ‘Shivaji’. He concluded his note by writing, “My deepest condolences to his family. May his soul achieve peace.”
Vivek was not only loved by his fans but also by his industry friends. Apart from being an actor, he was also a comedian, television personality and playback singer. He has appeared in more than 220 films in his career and was also honoured with the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Vivek is survived by his wife and two children - Amrithanandini, Tejaswini. His other child Prasanna passed away due to brain fever in 2015.
