New Delhi: Tamil actor Vivek breathed his last on Saturday (April 17, 2021), after suffering a cardiac arrest in a hospital in Chennai. The actor was 59 years old and was admitted to the ICU after he suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday morning. He also underwent an ‘emergency coronary angiogram followed by angioplasty’ on the same day.


As soon as the news of his death broke out, fans and peers from the industry went into a state of shock. He was loved by everyone and holds a special place in everyone’s heart. Here’s all you need to know about the ‘Sivaji’ actor –


Vivek Anandanan was born on November 19, 1961 and was introduced in the film industry by filmmaker K. Balachander. Apart from being an actor, he was also a comedian, television personality and playback singer.


Vivek started his acting career by starring in supporting roles. He established himself as a lead comedian in the late 90s and has appeared in movies like ‘Run’, ‘Saamy’, ‘Perazhagan’, ‘Sivaji’ and others.


He was also conferred with Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution to arts. Vivek also holds an honorary doctorate for his contribution to society through cinema.


He has also hosted several events and has interviewed famous personalities in his career including A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.


Vivek has acted in more than 220 films before passing away on April 17, 2021.


The actor got married to Arulselvi, with whom he has three children - Amrithanandini, Tejaswini and Prasanna Kumar. His child Prasanna, however, passed away in the year 2015 after suffering a brain fever.


Vivek was last seen starring in ‘Dharala Prabhu’, which is the Tamil remake of ‘Vicky Donor’. He portrayed the role of Dr. Kannadasan.
