New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation took over late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s case after the Centre accepted Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government’s recommendation to allow a CBI probe into the matter. The agency has registered an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty, her parents Indrajit Chakraborty & Sandhya Chakraborty, brother Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi, and others in connection with the ‘Dil Bechara’ actor’s death case.

Rhea, her father Indrajit, mother Sandhya, brother Showik, Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi and unknown others have been charged under various sections of the IPC including abetment of suicide, wrongful restraint/confinement and criminal conspiracy.

CBI registered a case against the 'Jalebi' actress, her family members and others on the request of Bihar government.



According to a report in IANS,  CBI has handed Sushant's case over to its Special Investigation Team (SIT) branch, which earlier has investigated several high profile cases. CBI Joint Director Manoj Sridhar will be leading the probe, the report added.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had recommended a CBI probe on the request of the 'Pavitra Rishta' actor's father K.K. Singh.

KK Singh lodged a complaint against Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and five other people on July 25 at Patna's Rajiv Nagar Police station. In his six-page long FIR, he accused Rhea of threatening his son and blackmailing him. Sushant's family has also accused the 'Chehre' actress of keeping him away from them.

KK Singh also alleged that Rs 15 crores were transferred from the 'Kai Po Che' actor's bank account to other accounts which were not related to him.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also initiated a money laundering probe on the basis of the FIR registered by Patna Police. The agency has summoned Rhea Chakraborty for questioning on Friday (August 7)

Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his residence in Mumbai on June 14.  His untimely demise sent shock waves across the film industry.
