The Narcotics Control Bureau, which is investigating the drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, arrested the late actor’s friend Rishikesh Pawar on Tuesday (February 2). During its investigation, the NCB found out that Pawar played a big role in turning the ‘Raabta’ actor into a drug addict. Rishikesh, who worked as an assistant director for SSR’s dream project from 2018-19, was produced before the court on Wednesday (February 3). He used to provide narcotic substance to Sushant during this period.

Sushant asked him to leave the project owing to his poor behavior. Dipesh Sawant used to procure drugs for the actor by contacting Pawar during the COVID-19 lockdown, NCB sources suggested. The NCB had demanded Rishikesh Pawar’s judicial custody for five days; however, the court sent him to two-day custody.

The drugs law enforcement agency had arrested Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty in a case linked to SSR’s death case last year. The NCB arrested the siblings for allegedly procuring and financing drugs for Sushant under various provisions of the NDPS Act. The Bombay High Court granted bail to Rhea on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh in October 2020. She walked out of Byculla jail after staying behind the bars for close to a month.

The NCB, which has intensified its probe into the alleged Bollywood drugs case, seized several drug-related photographs for Pawar’s laptop. The agency had questioned several B-town celebs as part of its investigation into the drugs case. The NCB has arrested 30 people in the case.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his apartment on June 14, 2020. Three Central agencies including the CBI and the ED are investigating the high profile death case.
