S S Rajamouli Reveals The Reason Of Casting Alia Bhatt In Jr NTR And Ram Charan Starrer ‘RRR’
When the director Rajamouli chose Alia Bhatt to play the female lead in the movie, he faced a lot of criticisms from the netizens for choosing a Bollywood actress.
New Delhi: ‘RRR’ has been making the news since its inception. This period action drama has been written and directed by ‘Baahubali’ director S.S. Rajamouli and stars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. (Jr NTR), Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Olivia Morris. ‘RRR’ is a fictional story about Indian freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad respectively. This film will also star Ajay Devgn in a cameo role.

When the director Rajamouli chose Alia Bhatt to play the female lead in the movie, he faced a lot of criticisms from the netizens for choosing a Bollywood actress. Recently, while interacting with SpotboyE, Rajamouli opened up on why he cast the ‘Highway’ actress in the female lead. The director was quoted saying by the portal, “I needed an actress who can stand her ground between Tarak(NTR Jr) and Charan(Ramcharan Teja) who are extremely talented actors. Alia is the perfect fit.”
The film was earlier scheduled to release on July 30, 2020, but it got delayed due to the nationwide lockdown and the COVID-19 pandemic. Elaborating on the same, Rajamouli said, “We need to rework the dates and schedules. Looking forward to working with Alia. In large-scale films, it is very important that there is a perfect balance between art and commerce. One cannot be sacrificed for the sake of the other. Yes, It is also very good their star status helps the pan India appeal.”
Clarifying that ‘RRR’ is not a love triangle, Rajamouli said, “This is not a triangle love story. I wanted Alia because she can be innocent, vulnerable yet be extremely resilient.”
Reportedly, Alia Bhatt will wrap up her work for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and will then proceed to Hyderabad to start shooting for ‘RRR’.
'RRR' is all slated to hit the screens on January 8, 2021.
