Sridevi’s birth anniversary: 10 lesser known facts about Bollywood’s 'Chandni '
Veteran actress Sridevi’s sudden demise earlier this year left a huge void in the industry which can’t be fulfilled ever. The late actress, who was fondly known as Bollywood’s Chandni, would have turned a year older on Monday (August 13). Sridevi’s death was a huge loss for Hindi cinema and fans as the ‘Sadma’ actress had a lot to contribute as proven by her last release ‘MOM’.
The diva left a long-lasting impression on the audience with her films like ‘Mr. India’, ‘Naagina’, ‘English Winglish’, ‘Himmatwala’, to name a few. She was called as Bollywood’s first female superstar for a reason. Sridevi not only had a star-studded career in Bollywood but also in Tamil, Telugu and Malayam cinema.

1-As already said, Sridevi was Bollywood’s first female superstar but very few people know that she was the first actress to charge Rs 1 crore for a film in 1990s.

2- Sridevi’s transition to Hindi films as a true blue heroine seemed quite seamless on the screen but the ‘Lamhe’ actress couldn’t speak Hindi quite well, so other actresses had to dub for her. Actress Naaz used to dub for the ‘Khuda Gawah’ actress during initial stages of her career. Sridevi started dubbing for her dialogues from the film ‘Chandni’.

3- Sridevi made a roaring comeback to the silver screen with suspense thriller ‘MOM’. The critically acclaimed movie was the 300th film of her illustrious career. The ‘Maqsad’ actress received the Best Actress Award in IIFA 2018 and National Film Awards for her brilliant performance.

8- Sridevi was the maker’s first choice for the role of Sivagami in the blockbuster film Baahubali. The role was later played by Ramya Krishnan.
9- Very few actresses have worked with two veteran Tamil superstars- Rajinikanht and Kamal Haasan are very few actresses. Sridevi was one of them. While people know that Sridevi did a lot of films with Anil Kapoor (13 to be exact), she has done the maximum with Kamal Haasan (27).
