'Amaran', starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is getting immense love from the audience but the Tamil film has also been compared with Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani‘s ‘Shershaah’, which was released in 2021. Both films follow the lives of Indian military heroes and their personal lives. Sivakarthikeyan recently spoke about the comparisons drawn between the two films.
Sivakarthikeyan on Amaran's comparison with Shershaah
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, when asked about the similarities between ‘Amaran’ and ‘Shershaah’, Sivakarthikeyan, who plays the role of Major Mukund in the film, called Shershaah a good film but made it clear that he isn’t keen on comparisons. “Shershaah is a very good film, but I don’t like comparisons. This (Amaran) stands on its own. This is not to prove to anyone that this is better or equivalent. It is to show what Mukund and Indhu have given to this country. That was the only intention,” he said.
About Amaran
Amaran, produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, depicts the life of Major Mukund, focusing not just on his role in the army but also on his heartfelt relationship with his wife, Indhu, played by Sai Pallavi. The story focuses on the personal sacrifices and emotional struggles of military families, inspired by the book ‘India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes’ by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. The film's soundtrack was composed by GV Prakash Kumar, adding depth to its emotional narrative.
Sivakarthikeyan says Amaran is a story about love
Discussing the film’s message, Sivakarthikeyan highlighted that while Amaran does feature intense action sequences, at its core, it is a story about love. " “Our priority was to show the innocent, soulful love. It’s because of that love that it hit the audience strongly. With all due respect to all the army films, Rajkumar has his uniqueness. He didn’t try to compete with any other film,” he added.
Amaran box office collection
