'The Loss Is Hitting Vanshika Now': Satish Kaushik's Nephew On How His Daughter Is Coping After His Death

Late filmmaker and actor Satish Kaushik’s nephew and film producer Nishant Kaushik has opened up about how Satish’s daughter Vanshika and wife Shashi are recovering from the loss of his death.

New Delhi: Filmmaker and actor Satish Kaushik died in March this year due to a heart attack. Thursday marks his birth anniversary, and the late actor’s nephew and film producer Nishant Kaushik has opened up about how Satish’s daughter Vanshika and wife Shashi are recovering from the loss.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Nishant shared that Satish Kaushik’s daughter Vanshika has been missing him a lot. “In the past few days, she has broken down again and again. Yesterday, too, she cried a lot, and chachiji had to put her to sleep. She is missing Satish ji, and says ‘papa’s birthday has come, but he is not here’. She has even made a card for him. Chachiji, as a mother, is trying to be brave and being with Vanshika,” Nishant was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

“We are walking into his first birth anniversary just one month after he passed away. It is a very difficult time for us. We are yet to deal with the loss. His daughter (Vanshika) and chachi ji are still recovering from the loss. We are trying to stay strong, and holding onto the good memories to move on from this tough time. The loss is hitting Vanshika now. She is very young. While we are trying to use several ideas to divert her mind, she is missing him a lot. The two had a special bond, as she used to wait for him to come back so that they could make videos together. The vacuum is hitting her,” Nishant added.

He also shared that the family will be a part of a small get-together hosted by his friend Anupam Kher on his birth anniversary. “He used to go and meet his friends -- Anupam sir, Anil Kapoor sir, Boney Kapoor sir during the day, and spend the night with his family. This time, that is how we decided to celebrate it. At the get-together, we will be giving a tribute to chachaji, and celebrating the life of Satish Kaushik. There will be singers too,” Nishant told Hindustan Times.

Born in Haryana, Kaushik was an alumnus of the NSD and the FTII, and started his film career in the early 1980s.

He penned the dialogues for the 1983 classic 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron', which acquired a cult following over the years.

He is known for his comic roles as 'Calendar' in 'Mr India', 'Pappu Pager' in 'Deewana Mastana', among many others.

He directed films like 'Roop Ki Rani, Choron Ka Raja', 'Hum Aapke Dil Me Rehte Hain', 'Prem' and also 'Tere Naam', among many others.
