Sam Bahadur Box Office Collection Day 2: Amid Clash With Animal, Vicky Kaushal Starrer Gains Momentum
After the success of 'Raazi', which starred Alia Bhatt as well, Vicky and Meghna teamed again on 'Sam Bahadur'.
New Delhi: Despite clashing with Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal', Vicky Kaushal's film has performed better at the box office. According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the movie made Rs 9.25 crore nett on Saturday in India, which is more than its opening weekend earnings. According to the website, Sam Bahadur registered an occupancy rate of 46% overall on December 2. The movie has already made Rs 15.5 crore net in overall revenue after its second day of revenue. After opening on Friday, the movie took in Rs 6.25 crore.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the numbers. "#SamBahadur JUMPS on Day 2 [Sat], with key metros recording EXCELLENT footfalls… A bigger number on Day 3 [Sun] is clearly on the cards… Fri 6.25 cr, Sat 9 cr. Total: ₹ 15.25 cr. #India biz. The real test begins tomorrow: the make-or-break Day 4 [Mon]… It needs to stay super-steady at its best-performing centres to leave a mark'," he wrote.
The ABP Live review of the film read: Unlike many patriotic films that glorify violence, jingoism and a brand of nationalism that reeks of overstated masculinity, 'Sam Bahadur' comes as a breather. The film does have the masculine patriotic fervour but that is more inclined towards the valour and respect towards the uniform of the Indian Army and the foundation it was built upon. There is an understated sense of men-only Army and the valour and discipline they bring along but then again, 'Sam Bahadur' chronicles a time when this was how things were done. However, this understated brand of patriotism perfectly scored with music and details is brought forward by the lens of a filmmaker, who happens to be a woman. A kind of sensitivity, perhaps a male director could not have brought to a topic like this( recent exceptions include Vishnuvardhan's acclaimed 'Shershaah').
After the success of 'Raazi', which starred Alia Bhatt as well, Vicky and Meghna teamed again on 'Sam Bahadur'. Vicky played the role of Sam Manekshaw, the first Field Marshal, in the film. Sanya Malhotra plays his spouse in the movie, while Fatima Sana Shaikh plays Indira Gandhi, the former prime minister.
