New Delhi: For her work in 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Alia Bhatt took home the Best Actress award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards in February. Rekha gave her the award, dedicating her own to the actor, and even referred to her as one of the "future legends" in the meantime.

Sony posted a video clip from the awards ceremony that shows Alia and Rekha sharing the stage as both are dressed in white sarees. While Rekha is speaking on stage, Alia is seen holding her trophy. “I dedicate my award today to the future legends of our country and she is the beginning of that,” Rekha said as she presented the award.

In response to her remark, a shocked Alia jokingly collapses on the ground as though in amazement. While accepting the trophy from Rekha, Alia embraced her and bowed before her with her hands folded in greeting. For "outstanding contribution to the film industry," Rekha was given the Dadasaheb Phalke award.

For the occasion, Alia dressed in a white saree and matching embroidered blouse, just like her well-known character Gangubai. Rekha was wearing golden jewellery and a white and gold silk saree.

Not only Alia but also her actor husband Ranbir Kapoor took home the Best Actor award for his work in the 2022 movie 'Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva'. The movie was Ranbir and Alia's first collaboration, and it was the highest-grossing Hindi movie of the previous year.

Alia Bhatt will now be seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, opposite Ranveer Singh. It is set to release in theatres on July 28.
