New Delhi: Ramanand Sagar's much-loved mythological show 'Ramayan', featuring Arun Govil & Dipika Chikhlia in lead roles of 'Ram' & 'Sita' respectively, recently made a comeback on Doordarshan amid Coronavirus lockdown making fans happy. All the actor, who were of the part of the show, are back in limelight due to the re-run of 'Ramayan' and are enjoying the popularity their characters are getting again. 'Ramayan' is making headlines again and recent buzz suggests that Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana's mother-in-law & Tahira Kashyap's mother Anita Kashyap too was a part of the iconic show.


As per reports, Anita Kashyap featured in the iconic show and played the role of demon Trijata who turned out to be Sita's support system during her stay in Lanka. Now, Tahira Kasyap has reacted on the same and has refuted the rumours that her mother played Tijata's role in 'Ramayan'.

Revealing the same, Tahira tweeted, "There's no truth to these reports of my mother Mrs Anita Kashyap starring in the Ramayan show. All these reports are false. She was an educationist and has no connection with this show, whatsoever."

Coming back to 'Ramayana', it is an Indian historical-drama epic television series, which originally aired during 1987-1988, created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar. Later, show's re-runs were aired on Star Plus and Star Utsav.

The show was a television adaptation of the ancient Indian Hindu epic of the same name, and is primarily based on Valmiki's Ramayan and Tulsidas' Ramcharitmanas.

DD National, amid the Coronavirus lockdown, started broadcasting Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan' from March 28 and the show is fetching amazing numbers for the channel.
