Oscars 2023: Video Of Rajamouli's Reaction On Naatu Naatu Being Announced As Winner, Goes Viral, Watch

A video of ‘RRR’ director S.S. Rajamouli’s epic reaction as he was seen screaming in joy and hugging his wife has gone viral.

Oscars 2023: It was a great day for India at the 95th Academy Awards as RRR’s song ‘Naatu Naatu’ won Best Original Song, and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won Best Documentary Short at the prestigious ceremony.

A video of ‘RRR’ director S.S. Rajamouli’s epic reaction as he was seen screaming in joy and hugging his wife has gone viral. In the video, Rajamouli is seen with his wife and 'RRR' cast. When 'Naatu Naatu' was announced as the Best Song at the event, an excited Rajamouli got up screaming in joy at the win but he also hugged his wife, Rama Rajamouli.

Leaving behind names such as Lady Gaga, Diane Warren and Rihanna, 'Naatu Naatu' made history after contending against songs such as 'Applause' from 'Tell It Like a Woman', 'Hold My Hand' from 'Top Gun: Maverick', 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' and 'This Is a Life' from 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'.

There has never been an Oscar nomination in this category from an Indian production before RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’. AR Rahman's 'Jai Ho', written for the 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire, was awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2009. However, Slumdog Millionaire was a British production

In an unusual acceptance speech that got him several rounds of applause, music composer MM Keeravani gave his unusual spin to the ageless hit of The Carpenters, 'Top of the World. "I grew up listening to The Carpenters and now here I am with the Oscars," Keeravani began, and then started singing his own version of the '70s pop smash hit: "There was only one wish on my mind. ... 'RRR' has to win, pride of every Indian, and must put me on top of the world."

'RRR' is a magnum opus drama set in the 1920s - pre-Independence era. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in lead roles as Komaram Bheem and Ram. The film also stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Olivia Morris and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles.

'RRR' was also released in Japan and created history in Japan by becoming the most successful Indian film to be released in theatres.
