New Delhi: After its release, 'OMG 2' starring Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar made an incredible sum of revenue. But on Wednesday, the movie saw a huge decline. Early estimates from Sacnilk.com indicate that it brought in Rs 7.75 crore on Wednesday. 'OMG 2' has now earned Rs 80 crore.

The movie reportedly grossed Rs 17 crore again on Independence Day after dropping to Rs 12 crore on its first Monday.

'OMG 2' had premiered in theatres alongside 'Gadar 2' starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the movie's Independence Day box office figures and stated that Gadar 2's release alongside it had hampered the film's box office success.

"#OMG2 is trending Exceptionally well, the jump on #IndependenceDay is an Eye-opener… Fri 10.26 cr, Sat 15.30 cr, Sun 17.55 cr, Mon 12.06 cr, Tue 17.10 cr. Total: ₹ 72.27 cr. #India biz… #OMG2 is displaying strong legs at the #BO," Taran wrote.

"Let’s face it, the clash with #Gadar2 has eroded its true potential… #OMG2 would’ve easily collected much, much more, if it hadn’t released alongside a Tsunami called #Gadar2," he added.

The ABP Live review of the film read: Like the first film ‘OMG -Oh My God!’The second film follows the exact same trajectory to reach to an all's well that ends well. The protagonist has a family crisis, there is a court case in which the protagonist fights himself with the help of God. There is an act of betrayal and God’s punishment which miraculously turns into a point of self-discovery and penitence and the protagonists sets on to undo the wrong done. Like the first film, in ‘OMG 2’, Pankaj Tripathi has a life-threatening accident which causes his death and a rebirth when God miraculously gives him a second chance to undo the wrongs of society. Having said that, 'OMG 2' is way too long a film in terms of screen time to bring about the desired social reform. Slashing a couple of songs and a crisper edit would have made the film's message come across even more emphatically.

In the Amit Rai-directed movie OMG 2, Akshay Kumar plays the avatar of Lord Shiva, Pankaj Tripathi plays a devoted follower of Shiva, and Yami Gautam plays a lawyer.
