New Delhi: Neeraj Pandey’s ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, which released on September 30, 2016, completed fours of release on Wednesday. The sports featured late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. SSR received critical acclaim for his impeccable performance in the flick which managed to break several records on its opening day at the box office.

All the mentioned films manage to rake in big moolah at the box office. MS Dhoni’s biopic minted Rs 21.30 crore on the very first day at the box office, thus becoming the highest opener in the biopic genre.

Biggest Opener as Sports based movie

‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ emerged as the biggest opening sports film at the box office. The record was later broken by Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’, which collected Rs 29.80 crore on the first day.

Highest Opener in league of films which had duration of over 3 hours

‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ had a runtime of 190 minutes i.e 3 hours 10 minutes. The film co-starring Disha Patani and Kiara Advani became the highest opener in the category of movies which had duration of over three hours.

Third Biggest Opener Of 2016

Sushant Singh Rajput’s became the second biggest opener of 2016 on its first day at the box office after it collected Rs 21.30 crore. Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ collected over Rs 36.54 crore on its opening day. ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ slipped to number three spot after the release of Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’. However, it still remains one of the top three highest opening films of 2016.
