New Delhi: Leading Malayalam film bodies admitted on Tuesday that drug usage in the business had increased, and they said they would contact the state government to conduct a thorough investigation.
Producer Renjith stated that the behaviour of actors Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi has crossed all boundaries and that no one from the industry will cooperate with them until they change their ways. This was after a meeting of the various film bodies, including the AMMA (representing the actors), the FEFKA (19 different organisations ranging from drivers to directors), and the producers association.
According to The New Indian Express, Shane and Sreenath have allegedly been causing problems at filming locations, the associations of producers, performers, and technicians in the Malayalam film industry have chosen not to associate with them.
Renjith, the president of the KFPA, stated that the actors harass production controllers and executives and cause problems on set.
“We have received complaints that they neither arrive at shooting locations on time nor cooperate with directors. Shane Nigam even demands to see the edited movie to make sure his character is given prominence. Such behaviour cannot be encouraged. We have decided not to involve him in future projects,” Renjith said.
“Sreenath Bhasi does not know how many films he is acting at a time or how many offers he has accepted. When we ask him to sign the agreement, he says it’s a ploy to trap him. Producers who engage these actors in their moves should be ready to take the risk,” he added.
The FEFKA had a meeting on April 18 and voiced their extreme disapproval of the way some actors are carrying themselves, warning them that if they do not change on their own, they will be forced to reveal their identities, which is exactly what happened on Tuesday.
