New Delhi: Netflix released the trailer of ‘Kathal’ starring Sanya Malhotra on Thursday. Inspired by true events and set in a fictional town called Moba, the investigative satire comedy, also stars Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav and Gurpal Singh. Directed by Yashowardhan Mishra, who has co-written the script with Ashok Mishra, the film follows Mahima (Sanya Malhotra) and a bunch of other cops in a mission to find the missing kathals of jackfruits from a politician’s house.

While Sanya plays a cop, Rajpal Yadav plays a journalist and Vijay Raaz is the politician whose kathal goes missing. Gurpal Singh plays Sanya’s boss who has assigned her the case.

Talking about her experience of working in the film, Sanya had earlier told ABP Live, "For me, it was a master class in acting as it was very difficult for me to catch the dialect. Moreover, I had never done a female-led comedy previously and there I was in front of such senior actors. So, I made sure that I was well-prepared with the script before I went in front of them."

"I had done scripts in Haryanvi, for the movie 'Patakha' also there was a different dialect, so I was confident that I will be able to catch the dialect properly, but on the first day of the shoot, I realized that it was not sounding the way I want my character to sound like. But, Neha was there, who is from MP, and she could speak that dialect beautifully. So she used to talk to me in that manner and gradually, I got used to it.", Sanya further went on to share.

Sanya also spoke about her experience on working with Rajpal Yadav and also shared an incident that happened while rehearsing with him.

"It was a great experience working with him in a comedy film and there is no one who does better comedy than him. He is wonderful, and also he is so funny that he keeps on improvising endlessly. It was really amusing to see all of it. He actually gets into the character and then eventually becomes that character and it all goes beyond the script. So, it never felt like we are doing a scene, it always felt as if we are really on the lookout for two jackfruits,” she said.

The film is produced by Sikhya Entertainment and Balaji Telefilms Ltd.
