New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni's biopic, 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story', which was directed by Neeraj Pandey, will be exclusively re-released in Indian theatres on May 12 in the languages of Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The movie, which was first released in 2016 and ended up being one of the biggest hits of the year, starred the late Sushant Singh Rajput as MS Dhoni.
An official announcement of the same was made on Twitter. Star Studios shared a tweet that read, "Jab Mahi phir pitch pe aayega, pura India sirf "Dhoni! Dhoni! Dhoni!" chilaayega. M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story Re-Releasing in cinemas on 12th May."
“MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has not only been an incredibly special film for Star Studios, but also for Indians all over the world, showcasing the inspiring journey of our most successful cricket captain. The re-release aims to give his fans across the country another chance to relive cricket's most magical moments on the big screen,” said Bikram Duggal, Head - Studios, Disney Star.
"He (Sushant) used to ask one question repeatedly and if he gets a similar answer then he used to believe that I am being honest and then he used to go to the next question," Dhoni said while talking about the actor.
The biopic ended up being one of Sushant's biggest commercial successes, and he later received numerous nominations for Best Actor at the annual award shows for his work in the movie.
Sushant Singh Rajput, Kiara Advani, Disha Patani, Bhumika Chawla, and Anupam Kher are among the cast members of the Neeraj Pandey-directed film.
On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput passed away. The actor was found dead in his flat in Mumbai.
