Karan Johar Returns To Director’s Chair After 5 Years; Ranveer & Alia To Feat In New Project?

There have been reports doing rounds since last year that Karan Johar will be casting Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt as the lead characters in his upcoming directorial venture. Read on to know more.

Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar has taken the internet by storm after he sent out an update about his next directorial on his social media. KJo disclosed that he will be announcing his next directorial project after 5 years on July 6, 11 am, i.e. tomorrow.

There have been reports doing rounds since last year that Karan Johar will be casting Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt as the lead characters in his upcoming directorial venture. As the announcement will be made on July 6, which also marks Ranveer Singh’s birthday, fans have been wondering that the reports might actually be true. Well, according to a report of Filmfare, Karan Johar’s next directorial movie, which will be announced tomorrow, will indeed star Ranveer and Alia in the lead roles.

Karan Johar shared the update about his upcoming film on his social media and wrorte, “This is the beginning of a new journey & my way back home - all at once. It's time to go back to my favourite place, it's time to create some eternal love stories from behind the lens. A very special story, truly immersed in the roots of love and family.” He continued, “Announcing my next film tomorrow at 11am, watch this space for more!”

In the video, the ‘Student Of The Year’ director can be heard saying, “The last five years for me have been about making 'Dharma Productions', 'Dharmatic Entertainment', 'DCA', 'Dharma 2.0' grow and push the cinematic boundaries through the lens of new and talented filmmakers. But, personally, my primary passion always lies behind the camera. Telling stories, creating a world fill with the multitude of colours, eternal music, emotions and I feel it's time to go back to my favourite place - on set and to create what I adore the most -- love stories. I am extremely excited to announce my next film tomorrow - a love story that is deeply embedded in the roots of family. I hope to seek all your well-wishes and blessings as I begin this journey.”

This upcoming movie of Karan Johar will mark his return to the big screens as a director after 5 long years. He last directed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.

Meanwhile, this upcoming movie will mark Ranveer and Alia’s second collaboration after ‘Gully Boy’.
