Anushka strongly reacted to Gavaskar’s comment and called it ‘distasteful’ and asked him why he dragged her name while talking about Virat Kohli’s performance. The ‘Sultan’ actress shared a long post on her Instagram story, expressing her displeasure over the choice of words used by ‘Little Master’ during the commentary.
"It's 2020 and still things don't change for me. When will I stop getting dragged into cricket and stop being used to pass sweeping comments? I'm sure you can have many other words and sentences in your mind to use to comment on my husband's performance from last night or are your words only relevant if you use my name in the process?," Sharma wrote on her Insta story.
Kangana Ranaut came out in support of Anushka and condemned Gavaskar for mentioning the 'Band Baaja Baaraat' actress' name during the IPL 2020 match. The 'Queen' star also reminded Anushka that she remained quiet when Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut passed derogatory comments on her.

"#Anushka remained quiet when I was threatened and called ***** but today the same misogyny coming to bite her, I condemn the fact that she was dragged in to cricket by #SunilGavaskar but selective feminism is equally uncool," Kangana tweeted.
Sunil Gavaskar made a reference to Anushka during his commentary and said that Virat practised only to Sharma's bowling during the COVID-19 lockdown. For the uninitiated, the couple was seen playing cricket earlier this year in a viral video, which grabbed several eyeballs.
Kangana said that only a 'pervert' would find any sexual context in Gavaskar's comments.
"Only a sex starved pervert will find sexual context to #SunilGavaskar’s statement which he made on national television for a woman, he should’ve not mentioned her, but Anushka is playing a cricketer in her next and there are several videos of her practising with her husband," she wrote on the micro-blogging site.
Sunil Gavaskarm who faced several backlash on social media, has denied the allegations of sexism during live commentary. He said, "The statement wasn't sexist at all. Please watch again for what I have said about Virat Kohli's catches and you will know there was nothing wrong in it."
